Logistics critical to the fabric of Jamaican society and economy
Why does logistics matter to Jamaica? Because it does.
Logistics Matters Jamaica
As a small island developing state (SID), for Jamaica, the matter of moving, transforming and adding value to goods, services, people, data and money — logistics — most definitely matter.
For Government — logistics matters
It matters to the government as it impacts tax revenue, and the very resin d’etre — the reason for being — of government is to safeguard and improve the social and economic wellbeing of citizens.

For business — logistics matters
For business, logistics is their business. No matter what industry, sector or subsector business is in they are into logistics.
Show me a business that does not in some way, in various combinations make money from moving, transforming or adding value to goods, services, people, data and money. From hotels to banks to BPOs to the ports and airports they are all into logistics.
For citizens — logistics matters
As citizens, all our jobs and social interactions depend on logistics. Just think about that for a second.
Your second is up.
Say it with me now: #LogisticsMattersJamaica.
For those that still remain unconvinced, just think about again for another second how do you move around on a daily basis? Just imagine you had a job but now means to get there. And that’s just one basic example.
Say it with me now: #LogisticsMattersJamaica.
Logistics is super glue
In short, logistics is the glue that keeps the fabric of our society and economy together.
Coronavirus and logistics
Logistics is not something that most people think about but as the world and now #Jamaica battles the #coronavirus an understanding of #logistics not just in relation to business but health systems and other social infrastructure becomes all that more important.
Using logistics to combat the Coronavirus
The Jamaican economy, indeed the world economy, is in for a rough time due to the coronavirus. And logistics will play a vital role in the means and methods deployed to #containcovid19.
It is important that we know that we are, Government, Business or Citizen, are not entirely powerless and we can leverage the power of logistics to not only #containcovid19 but to build greater resilience in our supply chains through greater and more diverse local production. This would of course by extension by extension or economy and bounce back stronger than ever.
The key is learning lessons from past supply chain disruptions.
The power to act
We all have the power to act.
Businesses, in particular, have the power to act.
